Like giant hogweed, wild parsnip contains chemicals that can cause human skin to react to sunlight resulting in intense burns, rashes or blisters. Abandoned yards, waste dumps, meadows, open fields and roadsides are common areas in which wild parsnip can grow and spread.
Wild parsnip has been found in at least one location in the Township. We would like to ensure that people are aware of the appearance of wild parsnip and the potential danger of the plant. We would appreciate being contacted and notified of the location, if you happen to see any of the plant growing in the Township. We are only able to control the plant on Township property.
